Well it’s been a while since I have done a journal on dA.  I figured it was about time – especially since I have gotten back on the bandwagon of submitting deviations.  Folks who have followed me for a while will notice, it’s not exactly what I used to submit.  Don’t worry, I still love fractals.  I know there is still a lot I have left to explore there.  That being said, I love photography as well.  I love seeing what can be captured.  My wife and I recently just got a nice camera.  (Parents chipped in as well for it as a birthday present(s) for us.  Thanks `Morris88!)  So I now have a Nikon D60 to experiment with.

Most of my recent (and upcoming) deviations have been shot with that camera.  With the fair and a parade in town, I think I took somewhere around 200 shots, and still have 19 left that I have identified as “must post” to go through.  Basically I am trying everything out.  Different settings, different styles, lighting, etc.  It’s a blast.  I can say it is a safe bet that there will be quite a few “fire” related pictures as the fire department is a big part of my life.

I encourage everyone to critique any of the pictures you like or don’t like!  Not only will it help make me a better photographer, but may give me ideas on additional moments I want to take a shot of.

Now why do I think these 3 are the best of all of the shots I took over the weekend?  Primarly because of what they say to me.  I managed to capture the moment the way I was seeing it at the time.  What it also tells me is I have a lot more learning to do so I can get more images to pop out at me like those – but that is where the enjoyment comes in!  My Dad (`Morris88) was up this weekend and we spent a while playing around with pictures and playing around on dA – loads of fun!
